Ugh. Naomi and Nicholas are positively appalling, petty and immature. Ugh. I adore them, the little shits.
What You deserve each other does best is showing how important communication in a relationship is. I know what you think : it’s not that original, as romance novels often touch this subject – sometimes very poorly, I have to admit, when obstacles to a HEA are so obviously manufactured. Yet we rarely get to see it unfold in an established relationship, and in this aspect, Naomi and Nicholas were glorious. Were they over the top? Absolutely – and I’ll argue that it was a good thing : there’s something exhilarating about the way they throw themselves in nastiness and in the end, I rooted for them. I very much cared for them.

To be honest, I might be a tiny bit like Naomi. Case in point: leaving your car in the middle of the road? I’m ashamed to say that… I might… have done that???? Twice??? Seriously though: the way she feels the need to strike before other can even think about attacking felt so relatable to me. I love her dearly, okay?
You know how romance novels make you feel so good but also a bit empty by the end ? You deserve each other did not do that. Sure, I was very, very, very happy when came their HEA (of course I was!), and I most definitely laughed at many parts (POTPOURRI 😂). Yet their feelings were so raw, and yes, so over the top sometimes, that in the end I’m struck by how energized and hopeful I feel. Ugh. I loved it so, so much, and I’ll be rereading it until the end of time.
