Weekly Check-in #5 – King of Scars & Great New Releases!

Hey everyone! I hope you’re having a wonderful day! It’s Wednesday again so time for a little check-in!

Time is certainly a construct, but one I’ve been struggling with lately! For the first time since I’ve launched this new blog in February, I don’t always have the time to write posts and read yours and it makes me so sad

I hope the next few weeks will be better, but I might be less active until July comes, unfortunately. The end of the year at school is always exhausting and super busy, and with covid’s restrictions it seems that everything takes more time than usual. I won’t go MIA because I’d miss y’all too much, but yeah, definitely taking a little step back.

Oh! And reminder that I’m hosting a giveaway on twitter all week ! (click on the picture to enter)

What am I currently reading?

It’s so funny because I’ve told myself that I wouldn’t read past Crooked Kingdom and yet… Here I am, 5 years later 🙈 Watching Shadow & Bone last week made me feel nostalgic of those characters, and I missed Zoya, Nikolai and Nina too much! Note that I’ve started King of Scars with less than zero expectations and the knowledge of all the big spoilers from the entire duology. It shouldn’t work, but somehow, it does? I was instantly grabbed by Leigh Bardugo’s storytelling and even though nothing’s really happening, so far I’m really enjoying the themes we find at its heart – grief, duty and the monster inside especially. Also, Zoya! I adore Zoya.

What’s next?

May 4th was both a curse and a blessing, because so many much-anticipated books were released that I’d need 48h a day to read all of them as fast as I’d want to! Here are the ones I’m most eager to get to :

That’s it for this week! I hope you’re doing great! What are you reading? Have you started any good game? Tell me all about it in the comments!

  1. Haha I feel you on the end of the school year! Glad you’re enjoying King of Scars, I just read all the Grishaverse books and the show still has me feeling like it’s time for a reread

  2. I’m really looking forward to starting The Ones We’re Meant to Find, too! I had other new releases from 5/4/21, though (the one I’m most looking forward to is Cursed Luck by Kelley Armstrong) so I don’t know when I’m going to be able to read everything, either. Happy reading!
