Weekly Check-in #6 – Tokyo Ever After & Biomutant

Hey everyone! I hope you’re having a wonderful day! I realize that I haven’t posted any weekly wrap-up for *checks notes* 21 days?? but to be honest, those past few weeks have seen me feeling a bit out of it 😕 I’m feeling better now though so yay! Welcome to my not-always-weekly wrap-up!

After waiting for months, I’m finally getting my first shot of the Pfizer vaccine this afternoon! I have to admit that I’m a bit stressed-out because vaccines and me don’t always work out but mostly I’m glad to put it behind me! Wish me luck!

On more bookish news, I’m SO happy because I managed to order a Fairyloot edition of These Violent Delights yesterday and I cannot wait to dive into it again!

I’ve been thinking more and more about the sequel (for which I was denied on Edelweiss… *wails*) lately and I have to say, I’m so scared! The fact that it’s a Romeo & Juliet retelling is bringing my worst fears out – is wishing for all of them to be happy while fearing that it would feel anticlimactic if they did ridiculous? (I’m pretty sure it is, but ehhh, what can I say, I’m not always making sense lmao).

What am I currently reading?

The truth is, I have been having the hardest time completing books lately, and my kindle is full of books abandoned at 30% 😭 For a few days nothing was working, until I read Realm of Ash by Tasha Suri (I highly recommend this series by the way! Great discussion on colonization, fierce heroines and the softest heroes!). With my reading slump finally receding, I decided to start Tokyo Ever After on Monday and I’m almost done with it. So far I like it even though I wish the characters and their dynamics would be more fleshed-out . Oh, well – it’s fun, compelling and I’m enjoying myself!

What’s next?

With the caveat that TBR and me don’t agree lately – and that’s an understatement – I plan to read a few sequels from my Great Series Read Project list, and those threes are the ones currently sitting on the top of my stack! (Actually, I started The Winter of the Witch a few months ago and stopped at 50% for reasons I can’t explain because I was enjoying it a lot!).

What am I currently playing?

After months waiting for it, Biomutant is finally here! I’ve talked about it in my post about my most anticipated A-RPG games and so far it looks just as beautiful and fun as I was hoping it would be! I’ll definitely talk about it more later!

That’s it for this week! I hope you’re doing great! What are you reading? Have you started any good game? Tell me all about it in the comments!

  1. Yay vaccine! 😀 I haven’t read These Violent Delights yet, but I’m going to go into it with the idea that it’s a retelling and part of the change made in this version *could* be the ending. (Also maybe not. But it could be. I can hope.)

  2. yay to getting first vaccine dose 💛 i hope you enjoy the silvered serpents!

  3. Looking forward to reading your thoughts on Tokyo Ever After, had a lot of fun reading that one. Your TBR looks great, tons of great fantasy books to look forward to. Biomutant looks so fun too, I always forget to check Steam for new games, but will definitely research this one more + the cover art looks so cool. Also very true, Tasha’s books DO have the softest heroes!! 😭💗 Happy May Alienor!
